Monitoring Huawei Cloud DNS
Monitoring your Huawei Cloud DNS records automatically is made easy with ZoneWatcher. After you've added your account credentials, we will automatically import all of your domains and begin monitoring them for changes.
Creating Access Keys (AK/SK)
To connect your Huawei Cloud DNS account, you'll need to create permanent Access Keys (AK/SK credentials). Unlike temporary IAM tokens, Access Keys don't expire and are ideal for long-term monitoring.
First, ensure you have an IAM user account with the necessary DNS permissions. Navigate to the IAM Console and make sure your user has policies that allow dns:zone:list, dns:zone:get, dns:recordset:list, and dns:recordset:get permissions.
To create your Access Keys:
- Log in to the Huawei Cloud Console
- Click your username in the top-right corner and select "My Credentials"
- Navigate to "Access Keys" in the left sidebar
- Click "Create Access Key"
- Save both the Access Key ID (AK) and Secret Access Key (SK)
Important: The Secret Access Key is only shown once when created. Store it securely as you won't be able to retrieve it later. We recommend creating a dedicated IAM user with read-only DNS permissions specifically for ZoneWatcher.
Creating your Huawei Cloud Provider
Once you have your Access Keys, you can create your new Huawei Cloud provider on ZoneWatcher by giving it a descriptive name and entering your credentials:
- Access Key ID: Your AK from the previous step
- Secret Access Key: Your SK from the previous step
You'll also need to select the region where your DNS zones are hosted. Huawei Cloud supports multiple regions including:
- AP-Singapore (ap-southeast-1)
- AP-Bangkok (ap-southeast-2)
- AP-Manila (ap-southeast-3)
- CN regions (Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou)
- AF-Johannesburg
- LA-Santiago, SA-Sao Paulo, LA-Mexico City
After entering your credentials and selecting your region, click the "Save" button. ZoneWatcher will verify your Access Keys and begin importing your public DNS zones.
Monitoring Your Zones
After you've created your Huawei Cloud provider, we will sync all the public zones associated with your account and their associated DNS records. You'll be able to view them from either the Provider's page or the Zone Dashboard.
ZoneWatcher will automatically check for changes to your DNS records on a regular schedule. When changes are detected, you'll receive notifications through your configured notification channels, allowing you to stay informed about any modifications to your DNS configuration.
