Monitoring GoDaddy DNS
Monitoring your GoDaddy DNS records automatically is made easy with ZoneWatcher. After you've added a GoDaddy Personal Access Token, we will automatically import all of your domains and begin monitoring them for changes.
API Access Requirements
ZoneWatcher connects to GoDaddy's Domains API v3 using a Personal Access Token. Any GoDaddy account can generate one from the developer dashboard. To manage DNS through the API, GoDaddy requires that your account holds at least one domain or is on a plan that grants domain management access.
GoDaddy's older API key and secret (the sso-key credential) is being retired and cannot be used with the v3 API. If you already have a GoDaddy provider in ZoneWatcher that uses an API key and secret, see Upgrading an existing GoDaddy provider below.

Generating your Personal Access Token
To get started, generate a Personal Access Token in GoDaddy's developer dashboard. We use this token to fetch your domains and their DNS records.
When choosing scopes, select the following:
domains.domain:read— required. Lets ZoneWatcher list your domains and read DNS records.domains.dns:update— optional. Only needed if you want to use DNS Change Management to add or revert records from ZoneWatcher.
Copy the token as soon as it is shown. GoDaddy only displays it once; if you lose it, revoke it and generate a new one. If you set an expiration on the token, you will need to generate a new one and update the provider before it expires.
Creating your GoDaddy Provider
Once you have your token, you can create your new GoDaddy provider on ZoneWatcher by giving it a descriptive name and pasting the Personal Access Token into the API Secret Token field.
Upgrading an existing GoDaddy provider
Providers created with a GoDaddy API key and secret keep working until GoDaddy retires that credential. To move one to the v3 API without losing its zones or history, open the provider in ZoneWatcher and choose Upgrade to GoDaddy v3. Paste a Personal Access Token generated as described above; we verify it with GoDaddy, switch the provider over in place, and queue a fresh sync.
GoDaddy does not allow an API key and secret to be exchanged for a Personal Access Token, so this step has to be done from your GoDaddy account.
Monitoring Your Zones
After you've created your GoDaddy provider, we will sync all the zones associated with your account and their associated DNS records. You'll be able to view them from either the Provider's page or the Zone Dashboard.
GoDaddy applies a shared request quota to each token. ZoneWatcher paces its requests to stay within it, so accounts with many domains or very large zones may take a little longer to complete their first full import.
